Week in review 2/6: Celtics

Celtics Record – 2-1

Vs Sacramento Kings – L 108 -92 This game was a tough one to watch Celtics started the game off strong and ended the first quarter up 9. However, the Celtics never looked good after that point. The Kings rallied and tied the game at halftime before taking a commanding lead in the second half. Thomas lead the team with 26 but the rest of the team struggled with Amir Johnson leading the rest of the team with 14 points. Here we took the prediction that the Celtics would win this game due to the Kings missing both Cousins and Rudy Gay.

Vs Portland Trailblazers – W 120-111. The Celtics started off this game playing the way that they ended the Kings game and fell behind by as much as 15 points twice during the first half. A well timed Brad Stevens time out and Thomas scoring 8 straight points for the Celtics to end the half brought the lead down to 6. The Celtics were able to carry this momentum through the second half and run away with the game. Here we predicted that the Celtics would win this game.

Vs Utah Jazz- W 112- 104. Celtics came out of the locker room and jumped on the Jazz in this one taking an early 7-1 lead then ending the quarter on 1 9-2 run. The Celtics carried this momentum into the second quarter and ended the first half up 14. During the second half the Celtics were able to open up a 20 point lead and coast through the end of the game. Our prediction was that without both Crowder and Bradley we expected the Celtics to struggle however Olynyk and Green had great games adding 35 points between the two of them.

Final Thoughts: This was a great week for Celtics fans with wins in Portland and Utah coming without two starters. Jaylen struggled against the Kings but it was great to see him respond with 14 points and 7 rebounds against the Kings. Jaylen continues to show he has the potential to be a star. There are only a couple days left before the trade deadline so look for rumors to swirl around the Celtics. I think that the Celtics need to go out and add a rebounding big such as Bogut or Cauley-Stein without giving up major assets.
